It is the new Kagum Group hotel in town with nice minimalist interior and considering it has nice mix-match color. I booked this hotel through Agoda for family vacation. It was clear that I requested the deluxe room with double bed and the view of the Mt. Merapi volcano. I even called them in giving their attention to what I needed.
My family and I arrived at the hotel at 4 in the afternoon, when the girl in receptionist told me that the room I requested is no longer available. After arguing for several minutes while she kept looking at the monitor screen in front of her, she told me that at last, I got the room at 10th floor with Mt. Merapi view in the distance.
When we got in to the room, she was right. It has a magnificent view of the volcano Mt. Merapi with hot smoke steaming above it trying to touch the sky. But... that was the only thing that correct. It was superior room, not deluxe room as I booked, and it has twin bed, not double bed as I needed. I was too furious to go back down to the lobby, and instead I called her from the room and asked what she was thinking. Well... she said sorry of course, and after sometime waited in the wrong room, my family and I finally got the deluxe room on 7th floor but with the most unfortunate view of roofs in neighboring houses. And it was still with twin bed!
I could not understand how they teach the staff for this hotel. They can't even tell the different between double and twin bed... even confused between superior and deluxe room.
The only good thing for this hotel was the breakfast. We stayed there for 4 nights, with wide range of food choices every morning. And the taste were excellent! Two thumbs up for the chef. Up until the last breakfast while I complained the cold croissant they served. The heater was broken and none of the waiter noticed it until someone like me brought up to their attention. Other guests seemed didn't care, but I did. I asked to speak to the manager and told them that he should put more attention to his responsibility. Not just for the cold croissant but for the food labels under each dishes were missed placed in several places every morning! It just ruin the nice breakfast that the hotel try to serve. I hope they will improve.
Room Tip: Ask for the one with the Mt. Merapi volcano view... You won't regret it!
