This hotel has a major flaw on the design. The moment you enter the lobby, you will chocked with cigarette smoke. This is because they don't make the special room for smokers killing themselves. Instead, they just put them on the corner about a quarter of overall area of the lobby without anything separate them from other people who want to breathe the clean air. This hazardous smoke even float freely to the restaurant across the room where you're having your breakfast to the point that you have extra menu of breakfast: cigarette smoke! My best guess is that the architect and all engineers who designed this hotel were all heavy smokers! Even when you're sitting on the furthest area of the lobby at other end, I guarantee you will still breathing hazardous air of cigarette smoke!
If it's not enough to add to my misery when I stayed here, was that I felt like I was victim of this hotel untruthfulness. On their website they put beautiful picture of swimming pool and gym which made me bring my swim gear along. But to my surprise, the swimming pool had not even finished yet. This is outrageous, I have been fooled by this hotel. They missed to communicate to their website visitors and their guests that these facilities were still under construction.
The room... the hot water shower in my room (812) was not working properly. Every 5 seconds the water temperature changing between hot and cold. I spent 4 nights in this hotel and for 8 times I took shower, the water were always like this. I asked my friend who stayed in room 809, and he explained that he experienced the same problem. Medan is consider hot climate city and AC is mostly preferable. This hotel... failed to give nice and cool surrounding. The lobby was somewhat warm (not to mention the cigarette smoke), the hall were hot, and AC in the room was not working as it should be. Every night I set the temperature to 10 degree Celsius, but even until I woke up in the morning, the room temperature were not cold enough, not as cold as I expected to be.
One more thing. On my first night, I wanted to put my mineral water in the fridge, but my fridge door was locked. I asked the hotel to open it. A boy came to my room and opened the fridge door, and to my surprise, he emptied everything in it like they don’t believe me and afraid I would steal them. And you know what? He emptied the fridge using a laundry bag and didn’t even apologize!
I have already mentioned these complains that I shared here to the hotel supervisor on duty on my last evening together with other service issues I received while I was staying here. I decided not to write every unfortunate service I experienced in this review, since I really hope they will improve! I even gave them suggestion to move the smoking area to other end of the lobby where the exhaust fan on the ceiling and the glass wall to separate the room can easily installed.
Room Tip: As long as the room has view, not with sand glass windows.
