First, the building was built by the Dutch govt. more than three centuries ago. Second, the decoration inside the restaurant was also set like it was three centuries ago, which all together will make you feel like entering the time machine back in time. Third, if you like hand painting it even better because this restaurant has many painting on their wall and some of them are even for sale. Fourth, they have the souvenir store inside of the restaurant where you can buy Indonesian handy craft, batik, etc.
The food, is consider good though rather expensive. But since you get the nice atmosphere, it's worth it. Just don't order 'es campur' (mixed fruit ice soup with sweet sauce) with durian soup, since it is too big for dessert, you also cannot taste the durian. Just the essence and smell of it. I think they should make it smaller in size but put real durian fruit in it instead. If so, I would have given full 5-star 'excellent rating' :)
