Due to eruption of Mt. Rinjani in Lombok Island, the airport in Bali was closed for several days. I flew from Bandung and supposed to land in Bali, but they divert the flight to Surabaya instead. It took me almost 16 hour by car travelling from Surabaya Int. airport to this hotel in Sanur, Bali. The car driver did mention that it used to be around 12-hour trip, but since everybody took the road trip to Bali, the traffic was so dense. I checked in for this hotel already at 7 AM, and had to get ready for the seminar I was about to give at 9 AM.
Adding to my misery, I had to catch the 12.30 AM flight back to Bandung on the same day (the airport was finally open). Therefore I just spent about 5 hours in this hotel, but I still can say something about it.
The room was OK and I had the sea view (though I couldn't enjoy it). But the furniture in the room was very old. I once did spend the night in this hotel, and I believe they had never changed the furniture! In my humble opinion, at least every 5 years for hotel this big should have they room faced lift!
The ball room, however, was excellent! Though they could not get me the hands-free wireless mic for my seminar. Since it had been used in other room. I believe they should have plenty since public speaker like me really thinks that hands-free wireless mic very come in handy and we always use it every time.
The food? Just average. I was expecting more at breakfast, but I was disappointed because the variants was very limited and the taste was just so-so.
Room Tip: Sea view of course!
