More than 10 years ago I visited this dam with my wife before we had children. That time I got the chance to see the rainbow on the side of turbine well because we were still able to get so close with the turbine. It was fascinating.
But on this visit with my two children, the car doesn’t even get close to the dam to the point that we had to walk or rent the ‘ojek’ using the security officers motor bike. The walk is about 1 kilometer. Not that far, but when considering in the hot sunny day, then it was something. Then when we get close to the huge famous turbine well, we have to stop by the fence, since no one allowed getting close to the turbine well anymore. It is due the security reason, because this dam is considering the important site for the safety of Jakarta (since the electricity of Jakarta is produced by this power plan). But anyway… it was nice and good for my children knowledge.
Entering the site cost Rp15,000 per person (adult only). Entering the dam area cost Rp10,000 per person (adult only) and rent one ‘ojek’ cost Rp10,000 one way. And when you want to enter the restaurant area, you still have to pay Rp5,000 per person (adult only). It is not that expensive, but in my humble opinion, they should make the visitor pay only one and valid for all attraction and activities in the site.
Just don’t eat by the lake, since the place is not that clean with garbage everywhere. And don’t forget to bring hats and umbrellas, and do take drinks with you because it was hot out there... :)
