So you come to Bali? If you're looking for crowded public beach with 'everything', don't come to Sanur. Because Sanur is where the private beaches are located. Mercure Resort Sanur is also has private beach, with white yellowish sands.
Two things that attract people to go to Sanur:
1. Sunrise is magical, especially on the clear morning. Wait by the beach heading east, and wait for the magical moment when the first lining of the sun crawling up with bright orange color... It always takes your breath away!
2. In low tide, you can walk from the beach heading to the open sea until several hundred meters, while the depth of the sea is still under one meter. Or you can just do shallow-water snorkeling. You will meet lots of local people looking for aquarium fish because you can see that you are walking near living coral with beautiful fish swimming and playing near the coral.
And that beach is on your hotel playground!
This is a resort hotel, so rooms are separated in several unit of buildings, surrounded by beautiful garden full of colorful tropical flowers and plants. It has two swimming pools, one near the restaurant and another one, the bigger one, has shallow pool for kids. The garden is very well taking care, and they are very clean. Very nice! The breakfast... is not bad and you can find the mix of Western and Eastern meal on the buffet menu.
The minus of this hotel is in the room. May be because most of the people spend most of their time outdoors. But I think the hotel management should give more attention to the room. The room's floor is not very clean, if you are not waring sandal, not very long until you'd find that your feet are dirty! Even when they just clean up your room earlier. The bathroom is also need extra attention. The shower hose's neck in my room were almost broken. The horizontal blinds on the window glass that separate the bathroom and the bedroom were losing their control stick, to the point that you have to use pliers to turn them. I very like this hotel for my next family vacation, so I hope they will do something about the room.
Room Tip: Ask for better room than the one I had. And asked the room closest possible to the beach.
